I replied over e-mail. The folio in question appears to be a PDF folio, but each page of the article is really an HD PNG version of the page wrapped in a PDF. This is an incredibly memory-intensive way to build a folio and will lead to low-memory shutdowns of the viewer.
If the content is only PNGs, the folio should be built as a PNG folio, not a PDF one.
